About Heather Her first book was BAMBI, written and illustrated by Heather herself, and had a smashing one copy run in the spring of 1977 when she was seven years old. The colorful story of her Himalayan cat by the same name featured full page crayon drawings and a photograph of the poor, tortured creature dressed up in dolly clothes and looking absolutely murderous, glued to the back cover. She was born and raised in Southeastern Connecticut, but has since become a transplanted New Yorker, having lived in WAAAAAAY Upstate New York (otherwise known as "Pretty Much Canada") for 18 years. She has fallen in love with the Adirondack Park in which she currently lives, and it holds an almost equal place in her heart with her birthplace, the Atlantic Ocean. If she could live in some alternate universe where the two are in roughly the same place, she would overcome her Math Fear to learn theoretical physics and move there. The Great Literary Love of Her Life is the vampire. From the first time she snuck a read of INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE in the back stacks of the Ledyard Public Library at age 9, she has had an unhealthy obsession with them. Joss Whedon's brilliant TV shows "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" only made matters worse (she cut her writing teeth -- so to speak -- on romantic and erotic fanfiction based on their shared universe), and Heather has been dedicated to creating romantic stories of the undead ever since. She has stated that she will read absolutely anything with a vampire in it, and all but two of her all time top ten favorite books are vampire stories. Not to be painted a one-trick bloodsucker freak, however, Heather also delves into time travel, contemporary suspense, paranormal romantica, and even has plans for a historical set near her birthplace. She states her secondary romantic addiction to be Men in Kilts With Scottish Brogues. She has a B.A. and 1/3 an M.A. in Psychology and Women's Studies, and is currently pursuing a second degree in English Literature, since she's decided to spend the rest of her life exclusively in the company of books. A proud member of the Romance Writers of America Chapter #136 (RWAOL), she is a stereotypical Crazy Cat Lady, having forgone the production of a marriage or human children in deference to service to an extremely spoiled and demanding feline. Her other interests include reading (her TBR pile takes up most of her bedroom and several pages in MS Word) and yoga. You can contact her at heather@hafowler.com or hafowler@bloodthirstymuses.com. |
